The First Presbyterian Church on the Park is offering a “Kid’s Art Academy,” which will take place at the church on Tuesdays and Saturdays during two sessions during the months of January, February and March 2012, for the purpose of providing kids the opportunity and access to a variety of artistic pursuits, supporting local artists in their craft, facilitating positive relationships between kids and with caring adults, and creating community through the gift of the arts.  Currently there are six artists offering 14 different age-appropriate classes for kids 3 to 18 years old.  Classes include: Paper Pizzazz, Sew and Stuff your own Animal, Wire Art Workshop, Drawing and Painting, Winter Fun Crafts, Leather Working Fun, Beauty and the Bead, Arts Around the World, Print-Paint-Play and Decorate your Sneakers.

The Kid’s Art Academy is open to all children in the North Country simply for the artistic enrichment of kids in our community; there is absolutely no religious content to any of the classes.  It is the church’s hope to provide this opportunity to any child who would wish it; scholarship money is available!  Brochures and registrations forms are being distributed within the community, can be viewed and downloaded from the church website (www.ChurchOnThePark.org) and are available in the church foyer or by contacting the church office at 386-2570 (Office@ChurchOnThePark.org).  Please contact Art Academy director Edith Frazer with any questions, or Rev. Mike Catanzaro for information about scholarship opportunities.  Both may be reached through the church office.

Children must know that they are a miracle,
that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been,
and until the end of the world there will not be,
another child like them.
